CULTIVATION
Cannabis Cultivation: A Powerful Key to our Success
For GCI, cultivation is more than a business. It’s key to the success of all our businesses.
We employ cultivation primarily as a means to characterize the dozens of new cannabis genetics we produce each year from our internal breeding activities, and those received from the stable of world-class breeders enrolled in our third-party Breeding Program.
We grow strains indoors at three facilities in Sacramento, and under light deprivation conditions at our Yolo outdoor facility. We run early spring deps, mid-season and late season deps and we also run full term cultivation.
By characterizing the same strains in multiple facilities we’re able to determine which strains to recommend to our nursery clone customers depending on their growing environment.
We sell the resulting flower from each of our facilities on the bulk market. Sales data adds another valuable layer to strain characterization and ultimately helps inform clone purchase decisions.
Cultivation is not only a profitable activity for GCI, it’s also vital to the profitability of our nursery customers.
